Icarus

Icarus is a grind, but that is also part of its appeal. For an open-world survival game, it can be remarkably harsh. From the moment you land, you must choose a starting point, gather as many materials as possible, and build your first base - or dig into a large rock for some unexpected shelter. The game will test your preparation and adaptability.

Character progression carries over between missions, but most resources and bases are tied to the map where they were created. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Starting fresh encourages you to apply what you learned rather than rely on everything you previously collected.

I especially enjoyed the sense of progression. Each playthrough became faster and more efficient as I unlocked skills and gained experience. Although most resources and bases do not carry over to a new map, your character's skills do. Be prepared to leave nearly everything behind and start again - but this time with more knowledge, better abilities, and a clearer plan.

What I Like About the Game
Every playthrough feels more efficient. Tasks that initially seemed difficult become easier as your skills and knowledge improve.
The survival mechanics are unforgiving. Weather, wildlife, limited resources, and exposure keep the world dangerous.
Starting over has a purpose. Leaving a base behind can be painful, but rebuilding allows you to see how much your character - and you as a player - have progressed.
Preparation matters. Choosing where to land, what to gather, and where to build can determine whether you thrive or struggle.
The grind can be rewarding. Gathering and crafting take time, but each upgrade feels earned.
Icarus will not appeal to everyone. Its grind, repeated resource gathering, and map-based progression may frustrate players who want permanent bases and faster advancement. However, if you enjoy demanding survival games where knowledge and preparation matter as much as equipment, Icarus offers a challenging and rewarding experience.
